Chris Haley

 

A native of Washington D.C., Haley currently co-produces and hosts the cable TV and Radio programs, out of Annapolis, Maryland, Undiscovered, which features vocalists of all stripes in the Metropolitan DC area.

 

Dee Entertainment (E-Mail) is the multidimensional media company Haley created and is developing to promote distribution, exhibition and production worldwide.

 

Haley was featured as Vivien T. Thomas in the PBS documentary, "Partners of the Heart", based on Thomas’ biography, narrated by Morgan Freeman and directed by Bill Duke. In 1990 he performed as Ken and Andre in Atlantic City’s Claridge Casino production of “Ain’t Misbehavin”. He has also appeared in episodes of The Wire on HBO.

 

Haley’s script to The Studio won an Independent Artists Grant from the Maryland Arts Council. He is in the final post-production phase of completing that self-directed project in which he also stars.

 

In 2005, Haley screened two projects in Film Festivals, The Studio in the Greenbelt Utopia Film and Video Festival and B&B in the Annapolis Film Festival. He wrote, directed, produced and appeared in both productions.

 

Haley  has completed one book of poetry, "Obsessions", and one radio play, “The Courtship of Jo and Eddie”.

 

Haley has spoken on the theme of African American history and self-empowerment at the African American Genealogical Conference in Los Angeles, California, the Simon A. Haley Memorial Conference at the Arkansas University at Pine Bluff, and the African American Family Reunion Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

Since 1999 he has served as Associate Director of Reference Services at the Maryland State Archives. He was inspired to work at the Archives and help others in their genealogical journeys by his historical mentor, Phebe Jacobsen, who helped his uncle, renowned author Alex Haley, link the ship Lord Ligonier to Annapolis, Maryland shores.
